The University of Iowa is among the most military-friendly Universities in the United States, which is due in large part to our outstanding Military and Veteran Student Services group and the University of Iowa Veterans Association (UIVA). There are currently over 2000 veterans and military affiliates on campus, and many of them end up taking an introductory chemistry course at some point during their academic career. Professor Daly, a three-year active Army veteran and former M1 Abrams tank crewman, is leading the development of an NSF-supported STEM outreach program called the Chemistry Platoon. This program is aimed at bringing together student Veterans at the University of Iowa so they can work together to improve their fundamental understanding of Chemistry.
